Hello!

My Name is Avril

Welcome to my portfolio

I am a Human Centric, Digital Product Content Designer from Australia with a background in Sales and Art.

A little about me …

and how I came to love working as a designer.

It all began in the late summer of 1996 at the age of 21, fresh out of art college, driving in my hand spray painted beetle across the city to my first job to work in the garage of a house in Kenmore, Brisbane, Australia.

This garage housed the operations of a tech startup, to my excitement this was my first job as a UI and UX designer, as I was thrown into the world of working with programmers, I immersed myself in mapping out user flows, grasping the requirements needed for the software, stepping through user journeys which I termed navigation design, creating interface designs, meticulously crafting pixel-perfect buttons and interfaces using Photoshop.

Together with the founders and the programming team, we poured our time, expertise and hearts into creating a revolutionary black box system that would revolutionize TV interaction.

Those humble beginnings where I embarked on my path as a UI and UX product designer at the young age of 21. It was an ideal fusion of my artistic roots, keen interest in human behavior, passion for Photoshop, and dedication to researching and testing user interactions.

Furthermore, I discovered a profound enjoyment in collaborating closely with programmers and stakeholders as a unified team. This early exposure laid the foundation for my expertise in navigation design, now recognized as UX.

With every wireframe, mockup, and prototype I crafted, my objective remained steadfast: to craft intuitive and seamless user experiences within the interface.
